Padres Arizona Fall League Update: Jedd Gyorko
Jedd Gyorko is the Arizona Fall League's OPS leader. With an OBP of .500, and a 2.64 PPG in 14 games with Peoria, Gyorko is giving the Padres lots of hope at 3rd base. Gyorko was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2010 draft, and has a .392 OBP and .909 OPS in A and AA ball. He walks 9.7% of the time in the minors, and has a 1.71 PPG, and 2.32 PAPP. He is an above average home run hitter as 3.3% of his Plate Appearances end with him trotting around the bases. He also has a pretty good range factor for a 3rd baseman at 2.75, meaning he is a pretty good fielder, even if he has been playing a lot of DH in the minors. In college at West Virginia, Gyorko had a 2.54 PPG, 1.71 ABPP, and 1148 OPS. According to the College Metric, he should be a 1.48 PPG, 2.43 ABPP, and .898 OPS hitter. If he can get anywhere close to that, the Padres would be very grateful.
