Giants sneak past 49ers
Excuse: I definitely thought this would be a close game, and it was. Special teams are hard to predict and highly volatile, but this week showed that it is tremendously important. 2 bad plays by Kyle Williams gave the Giants the win.
Big D: 0-2, 3-7 in playoffs, 60-44 overall
I: 1-1, 4-6 in playoffs, 63-41 overall

49ers dunk over Saints
Excuse: Obviously didn't see the Saints turning over the ball 5 times. Alex Smith looks like a totally new guy.
Patriots destroy Broncos
Ravens knock off Texans
Giants shock Packers
Excuse: Wow. This was my second most sure pick this week. Horrible secondary play, fumbles, and bad line play made the Packers look like a very pedestrian team. We probably should have saw this coming, but 15-1 made it hard to take those flaws seriously.

Cowboys run over Buccaneers
Redskins shock Giants
Excuse: The Giants have proved to be a tough team to pick. They are so inconsistent, the Redskins are playing better, but this looks like a Tom Coughlin collapse
Bengals are less ugly than Rams
Patriots embarrass Broncos
Chargers route Ravens
Excuse: Well the Chargers are finally looking like the team they were supposed to be, even though it may be too late. This loss was the first real loss against a competitive team for the Ravens this year, so it is concerning.

Excuse: A bad offensive line and injured quarterback is not a good combo.
Big D: 4-3, 53-30 overall
I: 4-3, 52-31 overall

Excuse: The good Giants showed up this week, but my confidence in the Patriots is definitely shaken after back to back losses.
Broncos make less mistakes than Raiders
Excuse: I think we can rule out the Raiders being a playoff contender, and that Carson Palmer trade looks really really bad.
Ravens shock Steelers
Bears finish off Eagles
Excuse: I kept faith in the Eagles, and it proved to be dumb. They are done.
Big D: 3-2, 29-16 overall

How we did: Week 1 NFL Picks
As I said last week, Big D and I will be picking select games every week for the NFL. This is just a follow up post showing how we did. Italics are my picks, bold are his (we agreed on all of them this week). When I miss a game, I'll make excuses:
Patriots over Dolphins
Eagles defeated Rams
Redskins beat Giants
Excuse: I really don't like either teams chances this year, as the Redskins are the Redskins, and the Giants cut loose a bunch of key veterans. So for me, this was a "pick 'em" game that could have gone either way. That offensive line looks terrible for the Giants and the Redskins receivers really saved Grossman with some great catches.
Jets knock off Cowboys
Ravens pummel Steelers
Raiders played less bad than the Broncos
Excuse: This game was pretty ugly. The Broncos kept falling down and losing grip of the football, this was another one of those "pick 'em" games where neither team is very good. I just thought the Broncos would play a little less terrible.
